I've created this page
to share some of the files that I have made for my TomTom ONE v4, this is
the
model with the EasyPort mount as shown below.
My unit is currently running App version: 8.010 and Map version: 815.2024

The files and data below are
ALL FREEWARE.
Icon & Sound files
for your ONE v4
I have created some Icons
and Sound files for use with the PocketGPSworld(c) Safety Camera POI's.
They are designed to work with 'TomTom OV2' - 'UK - Speed Zoned Complete'
files
(these files can be found on the pocketgpsworld.com web site - see banner
at base of this page).
The files once un-zipped are placed into the default main map folder along
with the safety camers poi
files (main map folder name - United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland).
Voice files are also included for all camera types with the first icon set
below.
Some demo screen-shots of the different types of icons and associated sound
files:

'check speed, gatso ahead'
'check speed, specs camera zone'

'caution, possible mobile camera ahead'
'caution, possible mobile camera
ahead'

'warning, traffic light
camera'

A second set of icons again
to work with the PocketGPSworld(c) files as above. This set does not
include any sound files.

Different Main Menu
for your ONE v4
Here I have created a different
Main Menu for the ONE v4 using TomTom's SDK. The SDK was for use
with older TomTom software versions but does work okay with the ONE v4 using
software App: 8.010
The new Main Menu provides the options to Manage POI's and also Browse Text
files and Images.
Note: You do loose some of the default menu items. The screen-shots
below show the default menu
and how the menu looks after the menu update using the SDK settings. I
have made them to be as
close to the default main menu as possible within the the limitations of
the old SDK.

If you wish to try this new
menu then it is adviseable to do a FULL BACKUP first. Having a full
BackUp
in any case for your unit makes good sense. I use Explorer, not TomTom
HOME.
How to BackUp, if you need help click on this link
(courtesy of PocketGPSworld.com).
Note: When you use TomTom Home to BackUp your device it over-writes
the last BackUp (if you have
one) so you would loose your original if that is how you BackUp. Hence
that's why I use Explorer and
give each BackUp a new name, so not loosing any others.
To install the new Main Menu including the Text Browser and the facility
to view your own Image files
you need to first download the required files (all the required files are
included - including a demo).
Once you have downloaded the
file un-zip it to your main pc. You should now have 2 folders:
SdkRegistry
text
These folders need copying to the root directory of your ONE v4.
So connect your unit to your main pc and using Explorer open the drive
letter.
On my system it is (K:) but that may be different on your main pc.
Now on the root directory of your ONE v4 Paste the 2 folders on to it as
shown below:
Now OPEN the SdkRegistry folder
and you will see a file called: TomTom.mnu If at any time you
want
to revert back to the ONE's default Main Menu then just either rename or
delete this file.
Now close the SdkRegistry folder and open the text folder, in the text folder
is another folder called:
Images
In this folder are the files that display whatever images you would like
to view on your ONE v4.
The files in the folder are included to just demo this feature.
You can now at this time disconnect your ONE v4 unit from your main pc.
Try the new Main Menu's !
See note at the end of this guide on how to disconnect
your ONE v4 unit from your main pc.
Adding images to your ONE v4;
I have found that images can be in several different formats, but resizing
your images to 320 x 230
and saving in .gif format works the best. This is due to the fact that
these images only use a small
amount of memory.
Using other image formats slows the ONE v4 quite a lot when it loads the
images.
Note also that this displays the images so that the Page-Down and Page-Up
buttons work ok. I don't
know how many images you can have in one listing using the following html
format before again it
slows down, but in the following file I have tried 12 which work without
any problems. You can create
several html files with different names that include whatever you like.
On your main pc create a html file (just open a new NotePad text file -
or use the one I included for
the demo) with the following data in it:
Save that file as:
Images_01.html (you can call the file whatever you like - eg: my_car.html
etc)
DO make a BACKUP
of your IMAGES to a separate folder on your
pc of the images you intend to view on your ONE v4 (just so you do not loose
them or harm your originals).
Now you need to copy and paste your 12 .gif images into the same folder (resized
to 320x230), and
also the Images_01.html file if you have created a new one.
In my case: TomTom (K:) text/Images
The image files have to be saved with the names:
001.gif
002.gif etc
NOTE: you can use the original file name(s) - but would need to change the
html file names to the
same for it to work.
eg: if your original image was called SANY0001.jpg then after re-sizing you
call it SANY0001.gif the
html file would need changing from 001.gif to SANY0001.gif etc.
You can now disconnect your ONE v4 from your main pc.
To view images on your ONE v4 just tap the screen and select the
following:

1. Tap Text Browser
2. Tap the Images Folder

3. Tap the Images_01 file
4.
Now tap the PgDn / PgUp etc
Note:
Important - Disconnect via Safely Remove Hardware
icon: (or you may corrupt your ONE v4)
END
Hope you found this guide useful.
